Many parts of any hot water heat or solar hot water system lies within the realm of many do-it-yourselfers.
Especially if that person has some plumbing skills. An ERS heating system kit or solar hot water kit
contains the same, or better equipment than you may be able to get locally. We provide custom made
pump stations, diagrams and technical help to assist you in your project. ERS is not just an internet
company selling parts and pieces and "marginal" heating systems. We offer professional expertise and
high quality products. ERS installs this equipment every day, so we fill very comfortable providing these
kits to our customers.
Some parts of the installation is best left to experts. The boiler installation should be done by a licensed
professional. Much of any kit depends on how much you as the customer want to do. For local customers,
it is typical for a customer to be able to do much of the pex piping, pex tubing layout and heat transfer
plates. Typically ERS comes in to do the boiler and final hookups, venting and the filling and firing of the
system.
If you are in another part of the country the process to do a kit is as follows.
1. You send your plan to ERS either in a PDF format or hard copy. Tell us all about your project,
especially floor coverings. Tell us your preferred fuel, NG, LP or electricity. ERS does not sell fuel oil
boilers, but will provide a system based on fuel oil.
2. After either phone or email correspondence a system estimate is produced. This estimate typically
costs $55-$110, depending on the scope of the project. This charge is reimbursed on a system purchase.
You will receive a printout of 99% of the parts of your system equipment. Basically we are designing your
system in parts. Other design charges may apply when you agree to purchase the kit. These charges will
be shown on your detailed estimate. Depending on the experience of the person installing the kit we may
be able to omit some of the design work.
3. Payment will be specified with kit purchase. Often the kit is broken into parts for the project. For
example, most people don't want a boiler sitting on the job site when they are just starting on the concrete
floors. Nothing is shipped from ERS without payment first. ERS just accepts cashiers checks and personal
checks. All checks must clear before shipment occurs.
4. One hour of technical help is included with a system purchase. Help beyond one hour in length may
need to be charged at $55/hour.
5. Equipment purchased from ERS will be guaranteed at the manufacturer warranty from the date of
purchase from ERS.
